Supporting the UN Global Compact Initiative

Everlight has devised its Principles of Business Integrity, Operating Procedures and Action Guidelines for Business Integrity and Reporting System for Violations of Business Integrity Policies. We communicate these policies and measures to employees at monthly meetings on an annual basis.

Human Rights Principle 1: Businesses should support and respect the protection of internationally proclaimed human rights.

On August 16, 2019, upon the approval of the Company’s Chairman, Everlight Chemical adopted the Everlight Chemical Human Rights Policy. The Policy is formulated by referencing the four fundamental principles and rights at work by the International Labour Organization (ILO) as well as corporate governance practices of industry peers. The Policy embodies our culture, business philosophy and mission to build a Happiness Enterprise. It also represents our efforts in ensuring regulatory compliance at all branches and responding to global initiatives on human and labor rights.

The Policy stipulates the following principles:

  • Respect employees’ freedom of association and right to collective bargaining
  • Prohibit forced labor
  • Prohibit use of child labor
  • Zero tolerance for discrimination
  • Continue to implement character education
Principle 2: Businesses should make sure that they are not complicit in human rights abuses.
Labour Principle 3: Businesses should uphold the freedom of association and the effective recognition of the right to collective bargaining.
Principle 4: Businesses should uphold the elimination of all forms of forced and compulsory labour.
Principle 5: Businesses should uphold the effective abolition of child labour.
Principle 6: Businesses should uphold the elimination of discrimination in respect of employment and occupation.
Environment Principle 7: Businesses should support a precautionary approach to environmental challenges.

To respond to drastic environmental and climate change challenges, Everlight Chemical has updated its environmental policy and strategy, which have been approved by the Chairman and adopted on October 21, 2021. The renewed policy includes our corporate environmental responsibility (CER) commitments and approaches.

Environmental Policy: Prepare against environmental risks and promote sustainability.

We are committed to the following actions:
1.Implement the ISO14001 standard for environmental management systems (EMS) and continue to improve related performance.
2.Regularly consult stakeholders to understand the environmental issues they care about.
3.Formulate, monitor and work towards our environmental goals.
4.Comply with local and international regulations and regularly disclose relevant information.

Principle 8: Businesses should undertake initiatives to promote greater environmental responsibility.
Principle 9: Businesses should encourage the development and diffusion of environmentally friendly technologies.

Everlight places great emphasis on developing eco-friendly products:

(1) 16 and 30 eco-friendly products were launched in 2019 and 2020 respectively.
(2) The Company began tracking and disclosing the share of operating revenue generated by our sustainable products.

Commitment to the Zero Discharge of Hazardous Chemicals (ZDHC) Programme

In support of ZDHC’s Roadmap to Zero, the Company continues to offer chemical solutions that conform with the ZDHC MRSL guidance on chemicals and sustainability and devote efforts to protect consumers, workers and the environment in the textile, apparel and footwear industries. We are committed to promoting sustainable chemical management practices across the supply chain to advance towards zero discharge of hazardous chemicals.

The TCIA Circular Economy Declaration

Committed to the goals of “Zero Pollution, Zero Emissions and Zero Accidents” set in Taiwan Chemical Industry Association’s (TCIA) Circular Economy Declaration, Everlight Chemical contributes to TCIA’s efforts to consolidate technologies and resources of TCIA members to promote sustainable development of the industry and help the industry respond to opportunities presented by the global trend of circular economy.

Ecological and Toxicological Association of Dyes and Organic Pigments Manufacturers (ETAD)

Everlight adheres to the ETAD Code of Ethics in its operations and is committed to taking all reasonably practicable steps to ensure human and environmental safety in the use of dyestuffs and organic pigments (synthetic organic colorants) manufactured or distributed by the Company.

Everlight is a member of the Safety Partnership with the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) of Taiwan. The Company will uphold the Partnership’s core values of Respect for Lives and the mission to Foster a Safe Work Environment and Protect the Safety of All Workers. The Company is also committed to contributing resources for the facilitation of collaborative projects that help reduce occupational injuries and promote occupational safety in the chemical industry in Taiwan.
